August 19, 2026 \u2013 Workshop 10-1PM, Cost $30 (paid to Workshops when signing up) ($40 cost for non-members) \u2013 Intro to Free Motion Quilting or Free Motion Quilting Using Printed Fabrics, using domestic machines, by Holly Anne Knight, founder of String and Story shop in Duluth. Their mission is to guide you to quilt and stitch with confidence!<\/p>\n

Optional Kit: $35 (paid to Holly Anne on the day of the workshop) \u2013 4 sawtooth star placemats with backing & batting, 1 FQ size practice sandwich.<\/p>\n

Free Motion Quilting is a wonderful way to finish your quilts on your home sewing machine. This class guides you through the basics of adjusting your tension, maintaining healthy posture, and quilting four foundational FMQ motifs: meander, loopy meander, swirls, and switchbacks.
\nFree motion quilting is a lot like handwriting\u2013 a few shapes that, once learned, can be mixed and matched into dozens of motifs. Even if you don\u2019t consider yourself an \u201cartist,\u201d this class will prepare you to finish your own quilts with confidence!<\/p>\n

Dear Gwinnett Quilters\u2019 Guild,<\/span><\/strong>
\nThank you to our Board of Directors and the many volunteers who give so generously of their time and talents. Your willingness to serve makes everything we do possible.
\nWhen I look back on this past year, I don\u2019t just see tasks;
\nI see the heartbeat of our guild. I see the joy during our
\nworkshops and the unforgettable escape organized by
\nour retreat managers. Who could forget the fun of Make
\nand Take It or the learning and laughter thriving in our
\nBee Groups. I feel the deep warmth of our service efforts as quilts like Just For You and QOV,
\nplacemats, and comforting cancer pillows find their way to those in need.
\nI am especially grateful for the magic that happens at every meeting that includes the welcoming
\nsmiles at the membership table to include our Friendship and Hospitality volunteers. There\u2019s the
\nbuzz of Show and Tell, and the anticipation around our birthday drawings. Behind the scenes,
\ndedicated hands manage our library, produce our newsletter, maintain our website, photograph
\nour history, take our minutes and keep our finances and governance sound with the guidance of
\nour treasurer, parliamentarian, and board.
\nMany of you wear more than one hat, stepping in wherever help is needed. Please know that
\nyour dedication enriches every member’s experience.
\nTogether, we\u2019ve grown. Thank you for the memories and for allowing me to serve as your
\npresident for another year. I look forward to seeing where our creativity takes us next\u2014and don’t
\nforget that our October States Mystery Quilt Challenge is due in October, so keep quilting!
\nI hope to see you at the Guild Meeting this month, August 18th at 9:30 (1st floor) in our normal
\nmeeting room. Let\u2019s celebrate with each other with a traditional Ice Cream Social. Don\u2019t forget
