I share why I made the design decisions that I made. I hope to help you see the world around you with fresh eyes, and get inspired by so much more than just other quilts. I love hearing from those who have seen my program; that I inspired them and made them feel like they could do it!

My Story
I love to design and make quilts. Working with color relationships is my favorite thing. I enjoy studying motifs from other cultures to get ideas for my work. I get many design ideas from nature, paintings, and other artistic mediums, as well as vintage quilts, and other textiles. I prefer making quilts that contain many fabrics; because I believe that this gives the viewer a much more interesting and pleasing quilt to look at. It also makes the quilt much more versatile; and will help to add a beautiful focal point, or unique accent piece to a wider variety of rooms.

I have a bachelor’s degree in art; and have been weaving for 35 years; both of which I believe, have had a big influence in the way I use color and pattern in my quilt designs. My quilts have been published in McCall’s quilting magazine, and have won numerous awards in local quilt shows and fairs. I have self-published patterns for many of my quilts.

Candace Hassan

July 21, 2026***********************************************************************************************

Size Matters – At Least Where Quilts are Concerned

Lecture/Trunk Show by Frances Arnold

Frances Arnold is a CPA by profession but, more importantly, a quilter for 40 years. She has won many ribbons in guild and regional shows and has had five quilts displayed at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, one quilt at QuiltCon and one at American Quilt Society show in Paducah. Her favorite part of this quilting journey is the ability to encourage and inspire others to make the quilts that they want to make. She regularly writes a blog ( www.francesquilts.com/blog ) where she takes the reader along with her as she journeys along her creative path.
“SIZE MATTERS….At Least Where Quilts are Concerned”
Learn that size really does matter as we explore methods of designing quilts that fit, whether it be a bed, a lap or a wall!

August 18, 2026*****************************************************************************************

Installation of New Officers and Ice Cream Social

Intro to Free Motion Quilting or Free Motion Quilting Using Printed Fabrics

August 19, 2026 – Workshop 10-1PM, Cost $30 (paid to Workshops when signing up) ($40 cost for non-members) – Intro to Free Motion Quilting or Free Motion Quilting Using Printed Fabrics, using domestic machines, by Holly Anne Knight, founder of String and Story shop in Duluth.
