Ben’s topic: My Life Outside the Box. Ben believes
that every quilt has a story. Come learn how his
quilts are founded in traditional patterns but
transitioned to totally art quilts.
February 19th – Ben’s workshop on February 19th is entitled: Simple Landscape Quilting: Open to all!! It’s a
great class for those making your first Art Quilt. No prior experience with drawing needed!!
We will use fabric paint, Shiva Paintstiks, ink and fiber reactive dye to create the effect of
painting a landscape.
Learn how to use freezer paper stencils to create textures in tree trunks, foliage, sky,
grass, etc. Apply objects using fusible appliqué, work with free-motion thread painting and
quilting and embellish you landscape with unique embellishments.
At sign up, view the 5 different landscapes available. Choose one to work on during this
class.

Drive around to the back of the Church. Enter through the door with EDUCATION above it. Walk across the lobby to the Elevator and come up to the second floor. You will hear the Guild at that point, so just walk towards the noise.

Have you ever used a Moda Cake Mix design or tracing paper? If not, here’s your opportunity to
explore the possibilities with us. Julie will teach us how to make a 15 X 15 block using the Moda Cake Mix/Tracing Paper system.
Come out to learn how to create multiple half-square triangles using minimal bias fabric, design a block using the Moda Cake Design #4 and discuss how these tools can be applied to other projects.

November 19th Workshop – Come out and join us for lessons in Free-Motion stitching and Free-Motion thread sketching. We’re making the Lovely Lily!! Learn the basics of free-motion quilting: proper feet to use, how to create the stitch length and control the stitches. Learn
techniques and control necessary to thread sketch any straight-line design from a child’s
drawing to artwork. Learn how to transfer a design onto fabric using a stabilizer. Learn
how to trapunto a design.
